Solidarites International estimates that 64 per cent of the residents of Kabo do not have household food reserves while 77 per cent lack planting seed.

The case occurred in a two-year old girl from the capital Mogadishu. As polio is an infectious disease which spreads rapidly, millions of children across Somalia are now at risk of life-long polio-paralysis.

Paris made his remarks at the entrance of the Havana Convention Center, where months of negotiations so far have focused almost entirely on land reform — the first of five agenda items to be discussed.
